i need to design a wedding invitation for a couple of very close friends. it is so much harder than bigger projects that i get paid for... total blockage... anyone ever did any? care to share? any ideas?

I'm in the exactly the same situation, spent all morning designing shit for a mates invite. I can do anything I want (within reason) but its only because Im not use to that Im finding it difficult. I've been doing minimal graphics with two circles joined together, (infinity symbol), typographic solutions etc, but all remaining with a white and grey or warm grey pallette. My flatmate told me there's a book on magma which specailizes in wedding invites, done by the same guys that made a book on christamas cards. I'll do a search tomorrow, cos I'm pissed now. If I find the book I'll let you know. I really need to get it designed, I've been putting it off for months now...............ARSE!!!!!!!!

maybe wrap some translucent paper around some touchy-feely paper like a book slip cover, play with type and image being on different layers

my mate had a nice one, it was old looking paper, almost like papirus, and just simple scripted font but tied up with a thin ribbon, very ghey

yeah i guess it has to very simple. i forgot to say it has to be in three languages. maybe i can use 3 transparent papers in 3 different colors for the different languages... should that be expansive?
