A true hero. A real man. We need more like him around.

I read an interview about him in the times...when he was with the Cardinals after he signed as a pro he still lived in his apartment. He never bought a flashy car...he rode a couple miles to practice and games on an old beach cruiser, wearing flip flop sandals, with his cleats hanging from his bars.
Kinda refreshing. RIP

PAT TILLMAN = HERO

Completely agree. There are stories that are forthcoming that should illustrate that fact.

Every life lost has a an equally compelling story I'm sure. The sacrifice is the same for everyone.

mimio... very true. my cousin is an army ranger in baghdad. i hope he will not have a story.
but tillman gave up almost $4,000,000.00/year to make $18,000.00/year so that we can sit here and post messages like this on a message board.
he is also 1st NFL player to voluntarily leave the NFL for military service since WWII. In WWII 1000 NFL players went off to fight and 23 died.

HERO? I don't think so... He's a fucking idiot for doing that! The guy wanted to kill some Afghanis and got shot himself, tough luck!

"but tillman gave up almost $4,000,000.00/year to make $18,000.00/year so that we can sit here and post messages like this on a message board."
that is deep.

so he gave up a life of money to fight for the USA, i wouldnt have done it. more power to him though.
it's a shame that he gets so much publicity just because he was in the NFL and made "a lot" of money. it is doubley tragic.
