ok so all of a sudden this happend about a week ago. when i go to open in PSD, the desktop icons are not in alphabetical order. i tried doing an arrange by > name in windows, but it does not help. anyone know why this is happening?

looks like it's sorting it by type of file. pdfs, shortcuts, folders, etc. check your settings.

how can i get it to stick with the display option i choose? everytime i go to open i have to reselect it.
i know it did not used to do this.

Start > Settings > Control Panel
Select "Folder Options"
On the "View" tab uncheck "Remember each folder's view settings"
