I'm working on a website in html, and the client asked me to put a single page in cyrillic for his russian clients.
They send me a word file but when I open it I can see only dots and lines...What should I do?
How can I copy and paste the text without loosing infos?
How do I publish everything into the server? do I need special extensions?I'm working on a mac os 9.2, mainly in dreamweaver 4
Thanks for any tips..

far as i know, mac os 9.2 needs language packs for appropriately rendering russian text - the pain in the ass is that you need to go back to a 9.0 installer, which was the last one that included actual language packs... then apply incrementals over that and pray nothing breaks...
that will still not guarantee word itself doesn't mangle the document, and it would still not guarantee your html will work unless you and your visitors both have the correct encoding set up for that file...

thanks!
should I visit a friend who is running OS X? would this help me?

You'd be better off visiting a friend with a PC and then edit it from there. Installing language packs take seconds on Win.

how about asking your client to save their word document as html from word?
that might get you the correct encoding tags, etc - but you would still be unable to see it... which it may be possible for you to work around, with sufficient help from someone who can - the client or just a pc you might have, or a friend or whatever

os9 has to be "russified" before it can read/write cyrillic - mail me for details
though I coulnd't managed to make correct cyr html under os9
osX supports cyr natively - just save your htmls in windows-1251 encoding
