When I use layer-time based markers in AE with chapternames for use in DVD's, does it really matter on which layers the markers are?
The help file doesn't say anything about this and i have a lot of layers and was thinking to use one empty layer just to dump the markers on, is this a good idea?

well you figured it out
put everything on one layer, it's easier to manage

cuz i am tight on deadline and it'd be fucked when i render a testmovie and it is a no go...
