Let's open up a debate on this...I know it's tired and please let's not have a JN flaming war..
THe man has good solid points...but his website is an f-ing travesty...no two ways about that.
Would anyone be interested in having a little 'Redesign Useit.com' contest type thing?

i think JN goes a little over the top, althought he has alot of good stuff..
as for his site, god damnit, i think its the ugliest website ever. remember when you first got on the internet and everysite used that pastel yellow, thats what this reminds me of. for godsake update it

anyway - I've written up some quick guidelines - perhaps this will entice more people:
REDESIGN USEIT.COM
----------------------------Here's your chance to show JN how you think his site should look.
Using the current useit.com frontpage, your challenge is to redesign it the way you think it should look and work, bearing in mind that that point behind it is 'usability'.
You will have this weekend to design one complete photoshop comp, and it can look however you want it to.
Look at it from the point of view that on Monday morning you have an interview with Jakob to present your ideas to him.
You will need to explain the idea behind your design - why you chose a certain layout, colors, type, link style etc...

I will post up all entries and submissions on the back of jevad.com Monday morning, and the winner will be decided by NT vote.

erm....I think it's better if we keep it jsut a flat comp for now...otherwise people will start grading the html/css/xhtml/whatever...and really I think all we should be concerned with *at this stage* is how we think it should look visually....if enough people are interested then maybe the second stage could be a working example?
