Okay. I did a search in PVN for Powerpoint and got nothing but presentationpro.com and a whole bunch of pretentious assholes complaining about it.
I have to make templates for a billion dollar company in Powerpoint and was looking for some inspiration/help.
HTML sucks and people learned to build around it. I am looking for the same challenge in PPT.
I also get paid pretty well to work in PPT. When you have a family, you'll design in MS Paint if you have to.

Don't say Flash, don't say Flash. Please for the love of God, don't say Flash.

What about Flash?

;)
So anyway, what kind of company is it? I never really understood what you're looking for. Tell us some more!

when's somebody going to make a round web page?
or at least something besides a rectangle? you should do that in powerpoint !
oh and i'd like to claim intellectual property rights for that idea :)

why not use Keynote? There's a ton of websites out there that offer templates for Keynote presentations, and best of all, you can export any Keynote presentation as a Powerpoint file.

We do business for every sector. Our financial services sector does syndicated research and want to sell the presentation with their findings. They update it monthly so I can't use Flash and they have to keep it up-to-date.
The same template idea will be used trhoughout the company for their sectora too (Travel, Automotive, etc...)

STB,
I've done quite a few high profile powerpoint presentations and have pushed that program as far as it goes.
I can show you some samples and give you some expert advice.
shoot me an email if interested.

Thanks guys. I do appreciate the help while risking your cool design cred that Jevad must hold in spades.
Yuo will be rewarded in heaven.

As I have no design cred I'll gladly help out ;-)
If designing a powerpoint template is your goal setup a new document in your favorite image editor set to 960x720 pixels, and 100dpi. This is the "spec" that will make the template background fit the Powerpoint window perfectly.
Just design something neat-o looking and then you can modify the text colors, links, etc. to suit the design.
If others cannot help you past this point email me and i'll do my best to assist. I just finished a template for one of our customers at work.
Amazing what people will pay for them too, by the way...

shit STB I've done powerpoint stuff for microsoft, HP, sony, panasonic, amazon and a heap of others...and I fucking HATE the damn thing HATE it....
- brundlefly0
whats not to hate.
Keynote is actually a much better tool for layout and designing in, but if you export to powerpoint, it all falls apart
- jakeyj0
wait a min

I actually like designing with restrictions. When i was a painter, I was totally absorbed by the grid. I like creating limitations and then seeing ways to succeed in them. I think that is what drew me to HTML in the first place.
"HTML ISN"T BUILT FOR THAT"
"Yeah, watch me.'We'll see. i know it's gonna suck though. i shouldn't even try romanticizing it. Jevad is right.

I had no idea the background dimensions. I always assumed it was 800x600 but it was never perfect. Know it is! You rock.

Just create some nice background images for all your templates and keep the text/content simple and plain - is what I usually do.
