that would be crazy, but probably will happen. glad I'm old now to. I remeber being pretty scared about the draft before and during the first Gulf War conflict.

I think there would be a fucking revolution if they tried to push the draft....

"The lesson is... if you're not turned on to politics, then politics will turn on you."
- Ralph NaderBush and the extreme right (neo-conservatives) will reinstate the draft if they run the US for 4 more years. Kerry would also, i can see it. who else is gonna fight to claim all the oil and natural resources in the world?

LOL... c'mon, love your country. It's like fucking jury duty.. it should be your duty.
- fate0
I hope you're just joking, atomica. I will leave this country (the U.S.) if they re-instate the draft.

fuck that nigga
I have my own wars in my hood to deal with

bleh, many countries have manditory service for 2+ years. however most countries aren't involved in as many "conflicts" as we are.

I don't think they'll do it, there just doesn't seem to be a need. The more technology gets integrated into the military the less soldier they'll need. Also I think the US will start pulling out of Iraq within the year.
Beyond that do all of you honestly believe you'd be on the front lines? I highly doubt it, more than likely you'll be empty trash bins and pumping gas.
- Krimzen0
on another note, they really need to allow you to edit posts. Sometimes I feel like a major tool when I see the mistakes I've made :)

A year?! Yeah right, we STILL have troops in Bosnia. It is going to take a looooong time to properly stabilize that country and make it so a large military presence isn't needed.
- Krimzen0
I didn't mean we'd be completely out but we certainly wont need more troops, or at least not so many more that would require the draft.
- sauerbraten0
the whole notion that we don't need ground troops because we have "technology' is bollocks. even in modern war, you need lots and lots of troops on the ground to secure areas, etc. if we were out to obliterate the entire country w/ no survivors, i'm sure we could manage that without ever having any troops on the ground.
