i have a regular apple airort card in my Ti book and need to get a wireless cable router... now i will eventually get a new apple latop with a extreme card, so whichever router I get must be compatible with both...
any suggestions? linksys probably, but which model?

Why not just get the extreme airport router from apple?
That being said, I've got an el-cheapo microsoft one hooked up to a linksys card on my pc and an airport card on my mac and it all works fine.

no point in getting one from apple.. wayyyy too overpriced

SMC is the way to go... not only the best quality but if you ever run into problems, my experience has been that they're quick on picking up the phone for tek suprt and they're really user friendly. go smc. otherwise go linksys. stay the heck away from dlink or what's that other one.... well stick to those two.. ps. check out the reviews on www.cnet.com..

i have a titanum as well and have the reg airport card. i got the Netgear wireless router recently and it is shiny silver niceness and is teeny and slick. i got my parents a Linksys and don't like it as much...

I have both D-Link and Linksys wifi (g) and they are both very good products...DLINK is a bit more user-friendly for the setup, and they cost about the same...depending on the rebates available. I've heard the MS equipment is not so good, but no personal exp. When I visit my friend with an Airport, the wireless uplink seems to take place much quicker...but we're talking one or two seconds, nothing to scoff at. As far as signal strength and connections go, they're all pretty much a function of the standards they adhere to...I haven't noted a significant difference in download/upload rates.
Cheers!

thanks guys.. yeah I am gonna get a linksys.. are all routers compatible with both extreme and regular airport cards? is it just "G" models, not "B" ones, right?
- kbags0
Yeah, G or Both, but not B. With both, the entire network slows down to its slowest device. B is ridicu-slow. Not worth it at all.

Winner of this discussion..hands down..WiFi at 108mbps...ok it's exactly 108 but it's way faster than anything else.

I got a stupidly cheap adsl modem wifi router for a little over £50. It's only "b" but for using the net it's just dandy and my aiport card in the iBook picked it up with no problems. I have 5 pc's and one mac all running on the same router.
