no probs. I thought it was interesting what they say about the sound quality of the iPod. I don't have one but i've listened to one and it sounded great to me.

can depend on the level you do your mp3's at
- jevad0
yeah ALWAYS rip yer mp3's at 192 or above
- JamesEngage0
when i converted my entire misuc collection from windows media palyer it did them very low... be careful as 192 is not apple default.

True, but i'd say they tested the units with the same MP3 files. If they didnt, then its not really a fair review.
The Nomad Zen Xtra doesnt seem to be a bad unit, the 60gb version is AU$789 here, compared to the AU$799 of the 40gb ipod

Which version?

Can't make the rent, but you'll look good selling 'big issue' with those little white headphones.

you will be broke for now, but you will never need to buy another cd again.

The iRivers are nice indeed a guy at work picked one up a while back and is enjoying every bit of it. From my pov of it, it is an ipod killer. Of course, it's not overly marketed and as aesthetically pleasing, but the product is awesome. I can't fathom pitching out money towards an ipod right now - although I use my PDA, a dell axim x5 as my portable mp3 player. it's smaller and lighter than an ipod or iriver, does a million things more like plays movies or video games and I have 512mb of memory to store whatever the hell I want on it. When I'm going out for a walk or on a business trip, that much memory serves me pretty well (I of course wouldn't mind more, but all the functionality proves otherwise). Oh, and I got it used for like 150 bones...

Is anyone using their iPod with a PC? I'm reading some of the reviews on cnet and some people are reporting issues with syncing on PC's.
I can go buy one today. Just not sure. I am saving to do what Jevad did and get the 12"....which actually, I'm going to use my friends school discount and get a piping hot kick ass 14" for 1600. w00t!
decisions decisions.
so yeah, performance of iPod on PC. anyone? anyone?

You're going to love it. I've had mine for almost 2 years and it hasn't left my side.

im planning on getting the 20 or 40GB. 20 i can afford, 40, i blow all my cash. i cant wait to toss my cd player in the trash!
- jevad0
use my iPod on PC - no problems ever
- JamesEngage0
I only got a bigger one so i could sample my mp3's at a higher rate and use my good headphones on it... the reason you get those ropey apple ones is that it disguises how bad an mp3 can sound
- tymeframe0
Get the 40. You'll fill up the smaller iPods before you know it. Sure you'll be broke for little while, but a year from now you'll realize you made the right decision.
i wish i'd bought the 20GB when i bought my 10GB.

I don't have anything at the moment. Not since i dropped my Discman on the tiles.
I get jealous of people listening to the mono FM radio in their phones on the train...

i agree with jevad...the 20 is plenty and is slightly physically smaller than the 40...spend the extra cash on some decent ear buds....
