I just recieved my new powerbook - the latest 15 inch model. My old one has a lot of marks from the keys on the screen. Will the new one have this too? Or where can a buy something to prevent it.

...the keyboard no longer touches the screen...

oh what a disrespect to your tools ;) there is a sheet of soft stuff that came with your new laptop (which is used between the keys and screen) always use that when you have it closed. that;s what it is for.

it officially never touches the screen but if you transport it it will due to pressure or torque. that's why they put that sheet there. everyone i know who didn't do that has a damaged screen, the ones who use that sheet or a plain a4 doesn't have damaged screens. i have an g3 pismo with a perfect screen and no dead pixels due to that.

once again, on the new model the keyboard doesnt touch the screen

are you a secret apple agent who's income depend on calls made to apple care? :) anyways better safe than sorry right?
- phatlee0
nope....all Im saying is apple changed it and when I close my PB or put weight on it the keys dont touch...

that's a good improvement! cool. then again, it raises a question. how would you really know? i mean, it's closed so you can't actually see it.
- phatlee0
cos there's no marks, and you can see the 1mm gap......

ditto phatlee.
It's drunk people, clients/bosses who like to prod your screen that are the real problem.
- phatlee0
hahaha, true!!

and from which range is this? only the new ones? coz couple of friends have the g4 ti book and the keys def. touches the screen. not when you close it and leave it. but during transport. the gap is < 1 mm.

This is the aluminium G4 powerbook.

Yes you play war games real loud sometimes. ;).
Studying in Hull was shite... tried to transfer in my first year to Shef, but left it too late. I guess Spiders and lots of toking eased the pain.
Bite Rasps cheeks for me please.
