Anyone ever bought anything from the Apple refurb store?
Good? Bad? Indifferent?

got the 17in powerbook 1ghz 512 ram extreme card.. panther.
Pretty much it was brand new.. in fact most referbs are pretty much brand new comps that got returned. Havnt had a problem yet with it. Works like a champ.
Apple does a good job with their referbs

How much of a discount did you get. Did you get it straight from apple?
- Donvitoviti0
yes straight from apple.
I got the 1ghz 17in for $2199.
I know they have the 17 1.25ghz with 80 gig harddrive for 2499 now. If its not sold out

The only thing that seems to suck about buying from apple is that you gotta pay tax on it, right?

i read this on a website for a refurb digital camera. do not know if its true thou
"Refurbished items have a much lower defect rate, because refurbished units are tested before they are sold."

it has the same warranty as the rest of the products, so you know that anything that would happen would happen in that 1st year so you're covered.
i've had refurb products from sony and samsung and they were shit. broke in a day.
i would think apple couldn't get away with selling shit to its customer base.

it is true that they test everything thourghly.
So yes.. it is good to buy from apple.. plus you get the warrenty just the same.. and you can even buy extended.. which is a smart thing to do

My whole set-up is refurb, 17in flat screen, G4, scanner and external DVD drive all from Apple or Cancom, all have worked perfectly for the last 3 years... I got it all half price...nice.
