Looks like there is no work! You better stay in Calgary...
but seriously, I hope you find something cool and fun to do there, Franz hopes so too ;)

if you're new to mtl, id say it's not so good. if you got networking skills and know how to get clients, have credibility, are convincing, know your stuff, then of course you'll find work one way or another, corporate or otherwise.
as a freelancer here, most of my work comes from referrers, like "oh, he does good work, contact him", and so on the chain goes down.
montreal people don't value webdesign so much and are less likely to take chances i find, compared to say, france and europe or certain parts of the states.
alors voila, that is my deux sous.

Overly saturated.
If a company wants a website, they can stand outside and ask the first person that walks by and find they he/she is a stuggling professional with 6 good years of quality php/flash/html/design/perl experience but that they can't find work because everyone and their dog does design in montreal. fact!

yea, i kinda expected that. im hoping to keep a lot of my same clients, work on some new ones too.
cant hurt to try i guess.

well, yeah it could. But what are you after, location and lifestyle change or more money. If you're coming here thinking you'll make it big and make more money then i would suggest going somewhere else. But if you like montreal and you just want to live here cuz it rules and all, then for sure.

what ?! no fame or fortune? ! damn
ha. no i just really love the city, and need a change. as long as i can pay my expenses im happy
- Super_Chef0
yeah, it's pretty cheap living here and, well, to put it bluntly, montreal is the best city in the world. Especially in the summer.

I agree with the best city in the world thing.
I also agree with the design saturated thing.
I agree with the no recognition thing unless you get into the "grafika clique".
