ok...i've got to redesign a site for a local real estate company and i have no idea how i should go about doing it...anyone have a link to a good looking corporate site? real estate or not...doesn't matter

There's a difference between research and not knowing what you're doing so just finding a couple examples of a well done thing and imitating it.

I'm sick of people on NT ripping on people for trying 'to find' examples or answers... I guess we should be posting more 'monkey threads' or 'hottest boy' threads...
... which I like all of 'em I guess.
But don't knock someone for asking for examples.

i gotta agree with shant.
how the fuck are you gonna call yourself a designer if you have to ask other designers of examples of good design.
especially if you are designing a local real estate site.
you could pretty much piss on a napkin, microwave it, scan it and use it as a background and it would be better than 80% of real estate sites.

I always wonder that too.
Stems back to many posts I have had where I rail into people about experience and the proper steps to being a good designer.
I can bet you 100 bucks 1/2 the people here havent done any internships. Im saying where youre not paid and sitting in a room full of communication arts and design books - researching styles for a demanding art director. Or going to the library for hours looking up a genre or style.
I know I am completely generalizing but shit... do the research yourself. This dude asked for corporate websites. Isnt that wahat google is for? If you cant narrow the audience surrounding a brand how the hell are you to design an entire look of a site let alone their whole corporate package?
I can see the threads saying "hey whats this font?" as something understandable or a crit... but "hey can you help me start my project?" is a lame deal.

In response to those backing up shant - I don't know him... wasn't directing any hostility toward him / her either...
... and you missed my point.
We are designers and developers that are much more aware of what's out there on the web than some poor schlub sitting behind a desk shuffling paper around.
I have no problem if someone asks me if I know of anything good that's pre-existing.
It's funny how one person backing up Shant says that all you have to do is 'piss on a napkin and microwave it' to create something 80% better than what's out there... when another preaches about people being interns and researching and attacking the books at the library --- what a range in views.
There is NO problem with a person asking for a couple examples of what we think are good designs. In the end it's all subjective anyway... I just don't understand why people 'attack' others when they ask for help or opinions... especially when you ARE IN A POSITION TO HELP.
