i hear you man. i'm in the same position. i think it totally comes down to the client. sometimes it's impossible to get a read on what they 'really' want. my client said they wanted something clean + minimal when in fact they wanted 'energy + punch' ( ? ).
so, i'm now to generate chaos from a clean, fresh design? i need a beer.

i just had a client refer me to their print designer who says she " has no idea about the web and never wants too"
she sent me 600px by 700px jpegs for the content and pastel/watercolor clipart of fruit to make a tiling background . yipes.

hahahahaha the same thing just happen to me.in a way i love it when clients like this come along cause what I do is spend 20 mns on what I would normally spend 8hrs on. But those designs I hide very carefully from view:)
