i want the "supcontent" box to have an auto-height (of sorts), so that it fills the gap at the bottom to match the height of the left column.
i'm not using tables, so this is a bit more of an issue than i thought.
any help? i posted the div id code there so you can see it all.

man, i hate that. i have the same problem on a lot of shit and i've been cheating w/ background images. :(
if you figure it out, lemmie know.
- xrusos0
how would i cheat with background images here?
i can't be sure how tall the left column will be, so how can i align both bottoms?
- SF20
will the graphic & nav boxes always be the same height?
- xrusos0
yes! do you have a solution then?
- SF20
in fact that wouldnt matter either.
- xrusos0
ah, you're killing me! just a tease!
- SF20
no, i mean it wouldnt matter for my possible solution. give me time.
- SF20
Check your mail xrusos.
Not exactly the solution but it might help you out...
- xrusos0
didn't get it yet. i'm looking forward to it.
- SF20
now i'm worried you're expecting too much
- xrusos0
did you include the "-" in my email?
- SF20
Yeah, work email is slow. just sent it again with hotmail
- xrusos0
Bump...
SF2, still haven't received your email. can you post it here?
anyone else?
coming up to my deadline and still no answer. i don't want to head back to tables, but i might be forced to.
where's all the web standards promoters now?
- SF20
Sorry mate, this is what i emailed you here

As i said in the email, its the beginnings of the possible solution i had. It would require some more work to hide the cheat, but it depends how much you really need the second column to be flush with the first.
Hope it leads to a solution at the least.
Cheers

as much as i hate cheaty workarounds, thats all i can come up with at the moment.
- xrusos0
thanks SF2, you're right, that is dodgy! but thanks for the effort. much appreciated.
anyone else have a cleaner solution?
(SF2's solution was to run a background image along the page to "fill in" the gap left by the second column)

i ended up just extending the columns' height to hopefully cover different browsers/platforms at the default font size. Unfortunately this solution breaks when someone increases the font size.
i get my copy of Eric Meyer's book today... hopefully that will help.

if anyone has a better solution, please let me know. (not only for this project, but for others)
here's the site as it stands:
http://www.livinglifeonpurposein…(hey, i had less than a day to do it and all i had was a print brochure to go on, so don't get all critical on me okay!)
