bought an electric rice steamer this morning..
but instructions are in chinese, and chinese clerk at the shop explain me something I didnt understand...Anyone got the right recipe to cook the perfect rice?

two cups of water for every cup of rice. steam until water's gone.

1 take back electric rice steamer for refund
2 wash 1 cup of rice thoroughly (unless you want sticky rice)
3 put rice in saucepan...
4 cover with cold water (about 1\2 inch above rice)
5 heat uncovered until simmering...
6 cover, reduce heat...
7 when water is absorbed rice is nice...

it depends on how sticky you want it to be, but generally speaking, for white rice it's 1 part rice, to 2 parts water. add a little oilve oil as you like.
i know there's many differnet ways to make rice though...this is just the super simple version...

shoul I keep it cover for xxx minutes?
do I have to wash the rice allot before cooking it?

that was supposed to be half an inch above rice...

for extra sticky rice, jus' don't wash all the starch from it...

Thanks tny & thosethat!! So I guess I soak the uncook rice the day before I cook it and not wash it too much.
Sounds good, now I'm starving! A shame it's only 8:30 over here on the left coast...

for the sticky stuff, just make sure you buy sweet rice...
