Bill Gates is ousted by Ikea founder for world's richest man spot! $53 to $47 billion!
Meet Ingvar Kamprad.
Anyone see this coming? Is #3 on the way? Do you think Bill cares?
isn't it something when your net worth is rounded to the nearest billion?

good for Ingvar.

i totally do not see how this could happen. ikea is certainly not as profitable as microsoft.

then again, that story is kinda' vague. BG might have a lot stuck up elsewhere. All those types are shady with the money. ;)

Funny how they 2 richest people make the crappiest products!

actually that newsreport is wrong, as Ingvar doesnt own those $53b, its a dutch trustfund that has the legal ownership if Ikeas assets.
according to Ikea themselves.
all financial stuff around Ikea is really vague as noone has access to any of their financial paperwork (as theyre not a official shareholder company they dont need to produce annual reports etc)

Does this mean Windows Longhorn will be shipped in a flat, brown box? Will it include a hex key? Or maybe the introduction of the MS POÄNG XP armchair? HA! :P

vague is right

I think gates gave 20 billion away to charity

Even if it's true, it's just temporary until dollar goes back up. The euro thing pushed him on top.

"This is completely wrong. It's a mistake that is made all the time," said Ikea spokeswoman Marianne Barner. "Estimating the value of the company, including all the stores, and saying it's all Ingvar's, that is totally wrong."
Also interesting:
on the forbes list this year:
Gates: 46.6 Billion (#1)
Buffet: 42.9 Billion (#2)
Kamprad: 18.5 Billion (#13)
