Any methods for squeezing the buggers down?

in acrobat 6.0 under file menu is "reduce file size"
it helps a little bit.

in other words, get Acrobat for Mac OS X.

What sort of PDF are you talkin'? Created in Print dialog box, or exported from Adobe app, or screen capture, or something else?

I've got someone's software manual (text + screenshots) that needs to be web-ready. Doesn't have to be B-E-Autiful, just fuctional.

i just read that you can do some shrinking in with OS X's ColorSync Utility, check the most recent version of Macworld if you have it lying around.

when saving the PDF from indesign make sure you specify web and not PRINT. Print will dramatically increase the size.
