Do you guys think google is profitable. I am having an argument with a friend and he is making comparisons to AltaVista, Lycos, etc. going bust. I think Google is different because the advertising is so subtle and ingrained. Thoughts?

yeah, check wired and time magazine and every other mag that has the 2 guys who started it, and the millions tehy make.
they sell ad space based on search criteris you enter yourself.
advertising is about selling to particular demographics and advertisers pay a lot of money to be sure. google is failsafe in that regard and they have millions of customers who buy adspace, and billions who search.
any argument against google is easily crushed

Haha. If you only knew. My employer makes about a $1000 a day from google's AdSense program. Google pays him to serve their ads. Now if he's making that much money from it... just imagine what google's getting paid. I doubt he makes 1% of what google is paid to run the ads.
