I have a new compaq pc, its fairly loaded. Currently, it has Windows XP on it. What I want to do is get a copy of Windows 2000, and downgrade. Do you think I will have any problems doing this? Driver issues, hardware issues?
Thanks.

why would you want to move to 2k? it supports less stuff and is less able to run your apps. keep XP, for being on a PC its pretty solid.

isn't XP just 2000 with some new and better looking pants?

I'd also reccomend keeping with XP for plenty of reasons. One thing you might run into with 2k will be driver issues. I had a compaq a couple years ago and it ran XP nice, when it came to 2k I had to search the ends of the earth to jerry-rig sound drivers and modem drivers to work.... but eh, if thats your thing, give it a try, might be a cakewalk...

Thanks everyone. As for those wondering why the hell I would do it.... Its quite lighter than XP, and I don't like all of the shit packed into XP.

There are hacked versions of XP floating around I've seen called XP LE (light) if you're into that kinda OSDiet ;)

XP Pro, don't switch back.

or just turn off the default shit in XP. it's fairly lean once you turn off the eye candy (without the driver issues).
2k used to be my OS of choice, but once XP was ironed out it's so much better:-)

Agree with last post. Google around a bit and learn how to turn off the unneeded crap in XP. Much nicer and XP is honestly a good deal better than Win2k.
