thanks

I really like this FTP program, i think it's way better then fetch..
it's free for about a month

Transmit works fine for me.
I think it was like 24 bucks though.

Well, you've got to pay to have reliable FTP.
One rule: avoid Fetch on OSX. They say it works, but it's shit.

There are about 10 of them on http://www.macupdate.com
Just do a search on "FTP client"
Half of them don't work, but you'll find one quick enough.

its worth the twenty five dollars...... i promise.
look on limewire for a serial if your hurting that bad....

Search on this site, usually comes up trumps.

try RBrowserLite its what we tend to use the most in the office.

Transmit is WELL WORTH THE $25
just stop going to McDonalds for a week.

I've been around most FTP programs but most of them don't really do the job..
but I say you should go with Transmit, it's a nice little piece of software worth every penny!!
25$ is not that much, but if you are too cheap you can always google a serial..

try Fugu; i dont have the link but it was developed by some UofM students, is open-source/completely free, and works like a charm.

I did use Transmit on a free trial, but I must say, just learning to type ftp [hostname] in the terminal has been easier...

which UofM

open terminal (in the Application>Utilities folder...) and type:
ftp
(sftp works too if your host supports secure ftp. it's the way to go.)
viola.
you can type "help" for a list of commands.
OR... if you're in dire need of a free GUI based ftp client... just use the "Connect To Server..." option in the Finder itself. It's free and comes built into every OS X installation (although I don't recommend using it pre-Panther for ftp). For the server address type:
ftp://username@yoursite.com
in the address box and it'll prompt you for a password and then mount a drive right on your desktop, just as if you inserted a disk into your actual computer. You can then use it just like a standard drive to copy stuff to or from it. Personally, i think it's easier than Transmit, although Transmit does get the job done well. Wouldn't you rather just use the standard Finder interface you've learned to love?
- infect0
where it says "yoursite.com" in my last post... it should say "ftp : // username@yoursite. com" (without the spaces!)

TRANSMIT FO ME SUCKA

you can also use safari.
Just type the ftp into the address bar and it will mount to your desktop.

Sure you can do the basics in the Terminal, but the GUI apps have real useful features for getting seriously complicated work done... like scheduled mirror synchronization, automating backups of your server etc.
- infect0
... you don't need an ftp client to do that...
