why would you need virus protection software for a Mac?

NAV is a waste of money. have not had virus protection on a mac for about 6 years now

yeah I tried using NAV once about 2 years ago and it found one. Thing is, it was harmless, never did anything, but couldn't get it off my box. I eventually learned to live peacefully with it and all was well. I can't remember the name of it now though... Had to part company with the purchase of a new Mac

I just downloaded the demo for Sophos Anti-Virus.
nice and slim, not some huge app like norton, never used virex. but in all reality there are no known viruses that effect MAC OS X. but that could change any day,
also if you share files with Winblows PeeCee's. you could be sharing a infected file.
Even though your mac will not be infected you could just continue to pass infected files around to other windows machines.it is also said that since Mac OS X is UNIX (FreeBSD) there are some UNIX viruses that Could infect your mac. as well as MACRO Viruses in MS Word Documents.
I do some Network Administration So it is great to have my Mac which cant be infected with windows viruses, and bring the infected windows file over and clean them, before they infect other PeeCee's on the network.

if you deal with a lot of clients, it never hurts on the mac. we've actually had a few onour macs at work. we used to run nav every now and then before we got your rack mount firewall closet full of goodies things which i dont know the name of.
