I'm going to be (just like everyone else) setting up my t-shirt range online, money from me, my designs , get them printed and sell them on.
Would I need to register (i live in uk) as a sole trader? or can i just do it with no-one making a fuss??
it will be a company (of sorts) but basically me, the designs and gettin them printed to sell,
anyone know of any legalities i should watch out for or should i just get intouch with places like de-rush, threadless and prophetik etc??
business help appreciated
cheers nt

Well, as far as US goes, you should register a biz name as well as get a seller's license because people can then pay your business and not your name personally. Also, you can use the seller's license to buy shit wholesale like blank shirts etc.
Also, I run an independent screen print shop here in LA. We can ship to anywhere, and we've got good prices on printing and shirts, so send me an email if you're interested in that.
That goes for anyone.

Just an fyi, maybe save you some time and effort. Unless you are doing this for fun, not profit, go into another business.
I did an analysis and found the profit margin is really too small for each shirt sold to make any significant profit unless if you used a prestiage pricing strategy...
Good luck either way if you decide to go into business!

if it's just for fun, try http://www.cafepress.com
while they're earning tons off the designers' work, they rid of all the hassle.

Yeah, I wish I had come up with Cafe Press, real good idea. They really must make a killing, great business idea.

Well, thats prestige pricing, like i said, the only way you can really make a descent profit.

i'm setting up a site like that as well aside from my freelance business. i'm just going to set up a PayPal account for all the financial crap. easy online transactions as well, not sure about doing that in the UK though.
i'm more or less doing it for fun, just small quantity stuff and not outrageous "VonDutch" pricing. $20-$25 bones is cool.
