i use paypal.. it's nice and safe but you won't get as many orders cause you have to subscribe before you can pay.. and a lot of people won't do it..
that site is very interesting.. 49$ is okay.. the flexibility is the key.. and accepting all credit cards / checksanyone got that 2checkout system running ?

Two things.
1. I'm building a site with my brother and we and our programmer sat down and looked at all the different reputable companies. We found 2checkout.com to be very similar to PayPal, but without any perks except the no-monthly fee. They even charge the highest in the industry per item... 5.5%.
2. We went with TrustCommerce.com. They do have a yearly fee of $249, but you get what you pay for. They have a very easy to use test account and charge the lowest per transaction next to PSIGate (which is also good), if you kick out Authorize.net for being incompetent and going bankrupt. If you expect to do large volume, TrustCommerce is the way to go if you ask me.
3. Here is a quick summary of our notes for Trustcommerce: distributed architecture (guaranteed uptime), 1.2s transaction speed, idiot-proof, DOD encryption 2048rsa, extremely helpful, sharp, and outgoing support staff (24-7)
4. NO I don't work for TrustCommerce! I simply like to help folks make good decisions based on my own experience. :)

249$ .. way too much for my transactions volume..
interesting feedback however
oups yes another thing : the advantage of Paypal and the other one is they allow me to do it : i'm in France.. so it's open for foreigners and that's a very good point for me

yeap..$249 is way too much for a startup like me too :P...but thx for ur guide...will take note of trustcommerce if ever my sales traffic increases!

Anyone have any other advice on this subject?

use PayPal because it also accepts regular CC as well. I've integrated it with MIVA at http://www.loopkit.com

go to directnic.com to sign up for a real merchant account. paypal and 2checkout is only good for low volume ordres. they charge a buttload for fees, 6% FOR 2CHECKOUT last time i used it.
