The iTunes Music Library file cannot be read because it does not appear to be a valid library file.
What do i do?

search for help on apple support site. I heard this is quite a common problem (but my fingers are crossed...)

repair permissions

just delete it, and iTunes should rebuild a new library... the library doesn't contain the actual mp3's, just a reference to them...

I had this same problem.
All you have to do is locate the 'iTunes 4 Music Library.itl' and 'iTunes Music Library.xml'. Then copy those files to your desktop and delete the old ones.
Open up iTunes and import the itl file. That should work, however you will lose all your play counts and possibly playlists. The smart playlists will still be there though.

or just repair permissions on those files if you want to make your life easier.
