I am planning buying a pro-consumer digital camera, anyone has experience with the mentioned camera's. Is quality ok for print (a2 size) or better go for the 8 million px (f828) from sony.

I assume that you don't have any lenses, choosing betwen a Nikon and Canon.
First off, I would recommend to stay away from the f828. Megapixelcount is high, but it produces way to much noise for big prints. More then what is acceptable. You can see it for yourself at www.dpreview.com
I own a Canon 10D and EOS1 myself. The 300D is basically a trimmed down version of 10D, which I could highly recommend. It is a great camera overall.
However I'm not sure if you can get out a2's from any of these cameras though. A4 is alright, A3 is ok. A2 would be a stretch.

i had this same question abnout 3 weeks ago. in the end i bought the canon. the 300d is, like mentioned before just a trimmed down version of the 10d. the only difference is that the body is made of plastic, sonething i dont care about cause i take goood care of my shit; and there is a difference in firmware. The 10d ware is super customizable (the buttons are) and im sure if your looking for that there is some firmware crack out there for you.
my last camera was a nikon, it was good, but i truly think that the canon is better.
if you have no lenses, i would go with the canon. i had old canon lenses, and thats why i was looking at the canons in the first place, but i then realized that they wouldn't fit. even with that, i went with the canon, and i couldnt be happier.
that was a lot to take in, i hope it all made sense.

I own the 300D. I've never been so happy after spending so much money on something as this camera. Lenses are more readily availible for the Canon too, as you can use any EF lens that's been made or is being made. You have a lot of controll with this camera, more so than most film cameras. I suggest it highly. Good luck, the Nikon's nice too, I'm just a Canon guy :)

the funny thing is that i was a Nikon guy, but after this, and all the reviews i have read and products i have tested, im never going back

xcissor,
have you read the side by side at http://www.dpreview.com/articles… ?
The D70 does read better than the Canon, I guess chiefly because its newer (I'm sure the next Canon will leapfrog it as it has the 300D).I would lead toward the D70 simply because of its newness, it incorporates features that the next Canon will surely address, but that are missing from the 300D.
Unless theres something I'm missing?

thanks all... indeed i've read something about a crack too (300d) >> http://www.bahneman.com/liem/pho…
It seems that all are sticking to their current brand...
mm, still don't know... i've also read about the epson-leica stuff...
grrrrr...

ok can I ask to ppl that has nikon, does it comes with any lens, or is it just the body ?
- xcissor0
i dont have the new nikon, my old one didnt. and any lens you get with the camera isnt going to be some super duper guy, its just the (below)standard guy to get you buy
- xcissor0
i did read the side by side, but hoestly, nikon just rubbed me wrong i think, so they turned me off of them for a while at least.

I don't know much about the Nikon, but I should consider buying a d60 or a d10 instead of a d300. They all have the same chip, but the the d300 is like a toy compared to the other two. And by the way don't be fooled by the amount of pixels and concetrate on the lenses.
