this is to you Mac gods
can a mac only use airport as the wireless devices?
I got a few pcmcia wifi cards for laptops and wondered if they would work on my soon to arrive mac.

depends on if there is a driver for your wireless card on the mac and also if your mac has a pcmcia slot.
so yeah, you can use others... just might not happen to be the ones you have (of maybe it is!)

depends what kind of Mac you have, i.e.; does it have a PCMA slot. if the card does work with you mac, it will go with any 802.11 wireless network, not just the airport.

drivers will be the issue i think but i'm sure google will help me there.
it does have a slot for the cards so hopefully i will be able to roam to house/office with the ibook

ughhhh.....ibooks don't have the slots to add cards just powerbooks. what kind of card is it? try to help ya find a driver if there is one.

It's an actiontec pcmcia card but if the ibook has slot then that idea is screwed.
what about a usb wifi device? Actiontec again but no mac support on the actiotec website
