you want hands? the master of hands is surely upso, he's been drawing them nicely since dreamless days
- brooke0
Need a critique?
- versa0
ah, that would prolly be good -
but really, i'm no good, and i am only using a really lose line drawing style - nothing complicated yet, so it might be too laughable at this point - ie, its not even shaded in any way yet, i have just been trying to envision how the fingers will look when the hands are resting where i want them to be ... but let her rip

in case you didn't know" http://www.upsod.com

if thats the style pf hand you want to draw and nothing further then look at graffiti writers such as Mode2 and cartoonists like Vaughan Bodé.
Other than that its all about looking and looking more, its all there infront of you, you just need to put a grid sheet infront of your eyes,

I'd say the thumb of the hand in the back is just a little too short.
...
I thought they'd be more realistic, hence why I offered a critique. But there's not much to judge here. You've kept it very consistent. I like the style.

yeah, sorry, just gettin' started on this graphic - i really need practice - it hopefully will be filled out much more and actually somewhat shaded once i start getting comfortable with what i am doing
thanks for the time and advice

I think it's pretty freaking cool what you've done, fyi. No curves, thick lines, very French to me. I dig it, Versa.
- rasko40
seriously tho, look at comics, they have the stylised hand down to a fine art, look at those and your own hand to actually understand what is at the end of your arm.... s\all a mattter of relation.
- versa0
you all would laugh if you could see just how much i am trying to look at my own hands tonight while working on this board graphic - i think i am going cross-eyed - i was even looking at my hands alot this afternoon thinking about it, and was looking at em a
drive through on the way home, and the lady inside was looking at me like i had totally lost it>_

if you haven't drawn for a while, a good exercise is to try and draw whatever you're looking at with one continuous line without looking at your paper. Quick, less than a minute apiece, do it about ten times. It gets the whole hand/eye coordination thing going in your head, and you should definitely see an improvement by the tenth one.
Then move up to five minute studies, and so on, till you get what you want. It's all about warming up the drawing part of your brain.

Get a book, it'll explain to you how a hand works and how it's made. Understanding what you are drwaing and acquiring knowledge is the key.
The upsod site is pretty cool by the way! :]

versa,
wishing will get you nowhere. if you seriously want to draw, buy this book:

and practice every day.

I recommend this book also
It's pimp and not for the drawing you'll learn but for cultural value too
