has anyone every purchased a refurbished powerbook from apple?
I was thinking about the 17", they offer the 1 year warranty, plus the option to buy the apple care plan. What do you think? Should I stear clear of the refurbished stuff?

i would have bought one - but I found a good deal on eBay instead. It was just timing, though.
I see there's good 15" & 17" deals at the store. I'd go for it.

i bought an ibook from there last year - had no problems, the machine looked perfect, came with a year warranty and never had a problem with it.

sweet, sounds pretty positive. Has anyone had a negative experience?

i acctuallly bought the 17 referb 2 months ago.
Love it... no problems so far.. and well worth the savings.
Also just to let you know.. it looked brand new when i got it... infact.. most referbs are new... that when people got them like something small was bad.
Also.. referbs technically are also returns. So lots of reberbs are just people who bought them and returned them.
So The odds are in yoru favor....
Infact i would say you have less of a chance something going wrong with a referb.. since they test them out and redo everything.
anyway....

Click the special deals link on the lower left (red tag graphic). I recently bought two G5's, a 15" Powerbook and an iBook from there for our office - all refurbs. No problems (cosmetic or otherwise) and I saved a few bucks.

Thanks!

it's better to get refurbished. You are guaranteed that a human being has looked at it, and fixed any issue by hand, instead of being an untested machine off an assembly line in taiwan. I bought refurb G5 and have no prob. GO FOR IT.
