For coffeeshops : the best ar café goa in the red light district and Clobal Chillage on Kerkstraat, be aware that you won't remember your name when leaving those places.. ,)

go have a tour on the canals at night and a drink .. it's very nice..
Many little shops on kerkstraat and arounf with comics etc.. one of the best burger in town also on kerkssraat.

Watch out for pickpockets, they're everywhere and work in groups, very obvious. And get some fries with mayonaisse. Rent a bicycle but don't get run over

Global Chiilage and the Dampkring were our favorite. Also, the Greenhouse Effect in the Red Light District is very cool. They serve alcohol there, along with the Dampkring. Also, checkout Cafe Choclata--the best bon-bons that i've had. Also, Abraxis is pretty cool. The wait staff seems to have improved. It's behind the palace in dam square. Right around the corner is the only Absinthe bar in town. Also, if you are going in the spring, you should think of going around April 30, that's Queen's Day--the city shuts down for the biggest celebration ever and the city becomes a huge free market.

I was there New Years 2002. It's very easy to get around, the public transportation is very easy, the water taxis are great. I saw a lot of great art there - the modern art museum was fantastic. Everyone spoke several languages and was young.
