So I'm working on compiling a portfolio to send to some Uni's, but I was wondering people's opinions on what I should send.
Photos? Sketches? Vector and Digital Stuff printed? Any design related things?
Basically I want to set myself apart while showing that I have talent. Should I try to cover A broad range of areas (photography, scuplture, painting) even if I'm not interested in them? Any advice is appreciated! :D

depends on what kinda school you wanna get into

A couple different people - and rasp's link - suggested I keep it varied.

I'm thinking of applying to the Maryland Institute College of Art. To the best of my knowledge they cover traditional art and Multimedia Design.
Concerns:
Should I include websites? Should they be stills or on CD-ROM?Should I make sure every drawing I do is incredibly refined and finished?
Should I include motion work?
Should I include any abstract 3d trendy kind of stuff?
Should I include more "design centric" pieces that creatively promote a product?
Should I have this portfolio profesionally printed and bound?

Printouts of your sites are OK. Prints of storyboards from motion work are ok too. Usually colleges want to give you "well rounded education" even if you go for a specific major so having lots of visual stuff helps ... meaning variety is good. Drawinds don't need to be finished, probably sending in your sletchbook is a good idea.

ok cool. I'm not going to bother with photography, I'll just probably focus on my strengths and interests. There are scholarships for some of the best portfolios, so I'm pretty anxious about this.
