is it possible for a virus to be contained in a .txt file???
- scarabin0
yes, but it wouldn't be executable.

Yessiree!
where were you a few weeks ago?
- sparker0
the source code, sure...an active virus...not really.
it has to be parsed/compiled/etc...in order to be truly useful.

thanks peoples!

did you guys all sleep through that big ass virus that got emailed like a zillion times?
the virus showed up as a text file - and everyone thought it was - but it was actually one of those .exe files.
- sparker0
all the viri going around have been .zip or .exe files and show up as such.
i've never seen a .txt viri. i have seen attachments like this before; ".txt.exe" or ".txt.zip". but it is pretty obvious what that is.

an old aim trick i've seen used is calling the file
"whatever.jpg .exe"
the exe part doesn't show up in the transfer window, and a lot of people don't notice the "..." it adds when truncating the filename.

nt ate part of my post.
the point is that there was like a line and a half of spaces between ".jpg" and ".exe".
