shit that really sucks. what goes around comes around, they'll get theirs.
my mate had a stolen computer (he didn't steal it but did buy it cheap) and end of last year it got nicked out of his car with all his music he'd been working on, his expensive sound cards etc. now he's doing everything legit cos he's sure it was karmic comeuppance biting him in the arse.

I think karma is somehow tied into the insurance business.
I have yet to figure out whether they are partners or arch enemies.

insurance companies work for satan.
we all need it but they capitalise on peoples' misfortune and fuel a climate where the stakes keep getting higher and higher.
look at how things work in some parts of the world, where you can't be operated on without insurance - that's just fucked up!
People as statistics, costs getting higher according to how likely they are to suffer such misfortune, and even then they won't pay up if they think they can get away with it - evil!

i feel for you, had my digi-cam and laptop stolen while travelling in europe (ganked in southern Italy no doubt), and then a couple months back lost my HD and recent work, losing data sux.

I bought a 800.00 digicam and my own junky brother stole if off me 4 days later. I just finished paying for it 2 months ago. Nothing like paying for something that cost so much and you dont even own it anymore...
