Whats the deal?

  I have this one last question for the day:

  When I import a PSD into photoshop with a white background, and then take the opacity all the way down, then place it into another document and put the opacity back up, then the white background disappears.
  This is what I want it to do, and it looks great on the screen, but when I printed a PDF of the file, the boxes around the PSD objects showed up, although somewhat transparent.

  So am I doing this correct way and the PDF just prints it out weird, or am I still going to run into issues when I go to production?
