something like this - would it be worth it to buy from apple? or is there an american site that's better? what's some advice about buying a powerbook (new or refurbed)? thinkin about a 17", but not definite yet.

Heya phist...I was looking at the same deal for a 1.25 Ghz 15 inch, but they sold out in less than two hours. Luckily, I get government pricing...so I ordered a new one. I saved about 260 bones and got a free (after rebate) printer for my Mom!
4Cy has a refurb 17 incher...I asked him about it and he digs it. He got a pretty good deal...and said it was packaged up real nice as well...like new. I'd definately stick with the Apple store for refurbs.

as long as it has a guarantee it shouldn't be a problem and could be a nice deal since new ones are too expensive anyways. the only powerbooks i wouldn't go for are the very first g4 powerbooks, the lowest / cheapest version. they had major issues with those (cooling problems etc), that's why they took them out of production real fast.

Hey... How do I find the refurbished apple store? I’m hunting for it periodically but just can't find it......

DON'T DO IT!
I bought my mac refurbed, it's been nothing but problems, and i'm a certified mac tech.
The wierdest stuff happens, and others who have bought refurb have usually had the same experience.
The warranty is a pain in the ass, just suck it up and buy it new.
