Dumbest question I could ask, but how do I record with Reason 2.5?
I've been messing around figuring out how to use the software for a few days...I like to throw myself into learning by trying to create...soooo....
What's the quickest way to start recording this stuff? Transport record button and then what? Do i have to record externally?

file - export loop as audio file/export song as audio file ??
Is that what you mean ?

Ah yes, that would do it! How to do other formats like .mp3? Or do I do that externally?
Also, when I recorded, it seemed like it cut into a part of what I was mixing. Can I adjust that?
Thanks fo da help!

I think you canĀ“t record with reason

I have a copy of reason.. not used it yet though, is it any good? can you hook up an Keyboard to it and play those soundbanks onto the keyboard? or is it just a dance mixmachine?
- mirola0
you can't actually record audio with reason, you would need rewire and then hook it up with cubase, logic audio or protools. reason's just a sequencer. if you have a midi keyboard or some other kind of midi controller you can plug that in using midi cables (you need a USB or FireWire adapter if you don't have midi in and out sockets on your computer).
i'm still on reason 1 but i want to upgrade for the maelstrom synth, apparently its as phat as you momma
- mirola0
oh yes, i use an akai 16 track digital recorder midi synched with reason instead of the above software

Pressing the record button in reason records the changes you make, like tweaks to the synths.
So, first you make loops and sequences and then you strat building up the song. Then you start giving it personal touches and variations.
If you have a midi keyboard you can associate different keys end buttons to different parts of reason, making it easier to use.

Sweet...thx for the responses.
So you're saying I need to hook up an external 16-track (or however many tracks) recorder? What about SoundForge or maybe Adobe Audition? Can I use either of those apps to record direct from reason?

kbags you don't have a clue what reason 2.5 is do you?
go check their page, you are hilarious

No, I am totally clueless, Supa, but I can make fat f*ing beats.
I just don't know how to do anything with it beyond bringing serious disco heat. Just you wait though.
