MAC users:
for the uninitiated, what do most of you use for non-html-editor based FTP...and can you recommend a free MAC based FTP client
also, will simpleText or textEdit as I am guessing it is on OSX, save as or output as a PC friendly .txt or something that can be converted to .txt on the MAC OS
?
thanks in advance!

Transmit, yes.
and, Yes, I believe so.
It definitely can do Rich Text Format which is a standard that Word can read.

Transmit by Panic Software is great.

ok so six other people beat me to saying that Transmit is the best. anyways TextEdit will, by default, save as an RTF file, but if you just change the file extention to .txt then the finder will ask you if you want to apply the new extension, and voila you have a txt file

to use text edit as a html editor (or just to save as plain text), go to preferences, and change it to plain text. thats all. oh yeah, transmit.....
