Why do you think you'll be able to get a cheap ipod here? I mean some people sells theirs on Craigslist for a little bit cheaper than retail, but not much. Anyway, you can just buy that ac adapter part for the uk when you return to the uk, or just get a converter piece.

Gotcha, you're coming from the UK. Okay then, yeah, it'll definitely be cheaper. The iPod does charge via firewire, albeit slower than the ac charger, but definitely yes. You don't necessarily need a converter for the AC adapter, maybe just a plug adapter, b/c I believe Apple AC adapters are good for 110-220v. Double check, but I'm pretty sure.
