I agree on all of what you say.
But its difficult to keep really up to date on all the advancements in flash, its all moving too quickly at the moment.
I want the Director vector editor to be better, to have as many tools as the flash drawing offers, then we're laughing.

i've only done one project in director in the last 3-4 years... doesn't seem to have changed at all since then

About 4 years ago they added a whole world of features - the Multiuser server, 3D and flash integration. But since then nothings really happened apart from fine tuning.
But it might appear to you that nothing ever changes because the really powerful changes are not that obvious and not visible from the interface.

those are the last things i used... the flash integration, and the ability to quad images... i wrote my own 3D engine coz theres was slow, and aesthetically nasty, and I never saw a decent thing made with it

although i have seen some very neat stuff by State using the 3D engine

I saw a few exploratory things on CDrom that were excellent using the 3D capabilities,
Did you see the 3D jeep game on the Gorillaz website? that was amazing.
the point is I think is that shockwave hasnt really caught on, clients would much rather something done in Flash if possible.
The number of times I have seen something that could have been done ten times better with shockwave instead of flash. But more often than not developers are forced to do it in flash with half the potential power that lingo gives you.

let's have a national director month then and see what you lot can do!
