hello all.
Ok, so, my computer is beeing used by other people quite frequently and I don't want them to be able to open certain applications (e.g. Mail - which would make them able to check my downloaded mail). Is there anyway I can "lock" an application and make it request a password before it opens?

uncheck 'save password' in your email client.

you'd still be able to read already downloaded mails

if you are on xp or win2k, you can setup another user and limit permissions to the new account.

thanks. However, they will still be able to see the email that's has allready been downloaded.
or is there a way to 'lock' the inbox or the subfolders?

just make your own user and password protect that.. you can also setup apps and shit that are available to other users

they designed a really nice multi-user system for you, and you want to have everyone use one login? *sigh*
or why do you want to do it that way?

enable file Vault (if using panther)
logout and make them log in using a different user account
