ok, bluejam, so because another US president gave them weapons, the world should just let them be, it's the US's fault. that's a poor statement.

"Cry, cry, cry over Iraq, yet millions of Africans have died in the past ten years and no one seems to give a F*CK. "
Actually I think they did back in the eighties but somehow everyone got bored after the third re-release of 'Do they know it's christmas?'...and we forgot.
And don't forget the East Timorese either...John Pilger tried but his voice fell on deaf ears for an even longer time.

exactly bluejam. and don't forget saddam used to be our mate when he was making the right deals with our fearless leaders. nobody cared then what he did to to the kurds.
the real questions have to be 1. who sells the weapons that kill these innocents and 2. who stands to profit from these wars

I didn't mention a country or it's leader in my first statement.

how many innocent civilian deaths happened before the war when Sadaam was in power?
hundreds of thousands i believe?
not that i support war on any level.....
that's also a point that seems to be overlooked.

(feb 25 04)Hmmm. What about all the people that Saddam killed (including the use of forbidden chemical weapons) thanks to the help from the USA and other western countries, just because at that time he was their greatest ally against the 'Iranian demon'? Ask Rumsfeld about this... ;) Not only they looked the other way while Saddam gassed kurds, iranian troops and his own people, but they even helped him. That's a point that really seems to be overlooked... If western allies would not have helped him during the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq would have been crushed and invaded by Iran, and that was something the 'good guys' couldn't stand. Imagine, all that iraqi oil in the hands of those evil iranian islamists... So it's kinda ironic how the 'good guys' have come to the rescue of iraqi people 20 years later than they should...

"who was it then, Bluejam?"
A bunch of white middle aged men greedy for power, interested in only money and ignorant to different ways of life apart from their own. And yet who can blame them because we let them get away with it.
And they will continue to.

honestly who knew which of these people were in the Iraqi army and who wre civilians. It kinda pisses me off to see body counts of 'Iraqi Citizens'.
Ok so how are they getting these body counts? Most likely its the hospitals who are reporting this...so lets break this down...
Guy gets wheeled into an hospital room...gun shot...who the F&*$ knows if this guy was holding a weapon when he get shot?! Do you think the doctors or the activists counting dead people know?
Didn't anyone see footage of Iraqi soldiers being arrested? I didn't see one 'Iraqi uniform' did you? Thats because there weren't any. So again, how the hell do they know who was a soldier and who was a civilian. Not to mention the fact that Saddam was a fairly intelligent man when it came to media. I'm sure that there werent any Iraqi troops ordered to kill civilians (sarcasm), purely for the attention that it's causing now.

have you ever heard of conscription? Were not many of the soldiers young men forced into fighting largely against their will (notice all the surrendering). anyway whatever about that, what the fuck is up with questioning the figure of a death count like this. I doubt its toally accurate but trying to split up the list into those who should have died and those who shouldnt is fucking pathetic.
- iDp0
If the conscripts were forced to fight that means they were pointing and firing weapons, that makes them soldiers not civilians. How many of the boy's pulling up on Omaha beach 'wanted' to fight, but that didn't make them civilians, so I really don't get your point.
You're right, splitting up a figure of those who should have died and those who did die is pathetic, that would be like trying to split up Nazi's and Jews then wouldn't it? Let's just lump them together.
All I'm saying is that there can't be an accurate number in a war where conscripts, real soldiers and civilians wear no symbol to differentiate them. The lines are blurred more then a 30pt gaussian.
Wheather we should have been there or not is a different story.
- lowimpakt0
on a broad scale I dont differentiate between a dead soldier and a dead civilian. And I wouldnt let a figure thats not newsheadline high let me get complacent. if it was 10 dead, questions would still need to be asked.
