Is it just me or naming a Mexican baby Devon just wrong. I personally think the name Devon is that of a a black person.
Just thought I'd share my frustration after hearing my brothers GF say they were going to name their kid this.

Devon being a black name? Don't you remember Devon Miles, the lame old man from 'Knightrider'? :P Seriously... Since when a name is attached to a certain race? ;) That's being simplistic.

I grew up near a street in Chicago called Devon Avenue. Every creed and color of person was represented on this stretch of road. Maybe you could learn something about acceptance and tolerance from the diverse peoples of Devon avenue...
Also, Devon sounds like a really good name for a hooker. You should be a proud uncle.

anyway.. the name devon reminds me of a few perky gymnists and cheerleaders.. all female.. that ive known.. all of which also happen to be white.

i suppose then i have a "white name" . my name is michelle and boyd is a common white person last name. when i get married my last name will be yeager, and then everyone will assume im german then.. huh.

what i meant to say was.. its lame to pick a name for a kid jsut because it matches the color of their skin. they should pick whatever they think sounds interestiing.
my sister had jamican/mexican mixed kids and when they were trying to thing of names that sounded good when translated from english into spanish or Patwa.. both used a lot in my family. So, names like matt were out cos mateo sounded like ass.

i could easily say i know at least 20 people with those names at this very moment.
im no better tho. a lot of girls my age have the name michelle. in 1st grade there were 5 in my class.
