html and e-mail

Could anyone please help me out? I have a client who wants to send out e-flyers- basically embedding html in an e-mail. Anyone have any links on how to do this and make it work conistently across various e-mail programs- hotmail, etc.? Thanks in advance.

i use this:
http://listmessenger.com/works wonderful. takes some php/sql setup, but manages your list, saves your emails, etc. very nice.
