that'll show those record exec fuckasses! I'm totally gonna turn my site grey....er...no wait a minute...i'm totally gonna watch you do it!!!
all i got to say is....dont fuck with the beatles.
especially if your name begins with a "Jay" and ends with a "Z"
- Nematoth0
dya think d boys at NT are gonna participate?
- kpl0
coward.
what, you scared of a cease-and-desist? ooh. they're gonna send you a letter with big words.
- Vain0
you know what I think of that....make your own fucking music. none of this "oh but it honors both the beatles AND Jay-z" bullshit.
honor them by making your own fucking song with your own lyrics and your own chorus and your own guitar.
how about i totally go "honor" newstoday and three-oh by stealing their shit, add my own little iframe and call it my own art.
better yet...i'll go cut up half a picasso, half a monet, slop them together with some cheap paste, put glitter on the top and call it mine.
- abizzyman0
i've never subscribed to:
shit copies,
genius steals.I kinda gotta go with Vain on this one... although I am now curious as to what the grey album sounds like.
- Nematoth0
I downloaded it for the hell of it...
Listnened to a couple of tracks... didn't like it much but need to give it a proper listen on stereo rather than my laptop tin can speakers..!!
- Vain0
yea sure I'm curious too. i haven't listened to it.
but that's not the point. it may well be a great album....in fact if it isnt a great album the guy must be the biggest dipshit in the world. how can one make it easier to create a great album? steal a classic and a modern day hitmaker, you still can't make an album worth two cents?
the point is to not support this cheap shot at creativity. you wanna talk about how sampling is an art form...okay i can roll with that, as long as we're talking about DJ Shadow.
- abizzyman0
sampling IS an artform... but only when mixed with your own music.
I normally don't disagree with the boss... but he recently discovered Garage Band (part of the iLive pack for OSX) and think that is as good as the real thing...
... give me a break - anyone can slap some loops and add a beat if it's all preexisting.
- Vain0
i completely agree.
and for those who say this is innovative, gimmie a break.
it's a cute little idea anf fun to talk about, but hardly a milestone which will go down in history as "a turning point in modern music".
in fact it's just some guy who's scared and doesnt believe that he can make something great, so he doesnt try. he shys away and hides behind art that already proved successful.
but humanity evolves...creators create. the ones with no balls to make something out of nothing will be left behind.
props to this guy for creating controversy...not much else.

I just like the idea of orginizing a mass protest that sticks it to big business. I mean what if a one day boy-cot of a major corporation. I mean obviously it would be hard to generate numbers willing to participate at first but if movements like this happen, and continue to happen, and the countinuing distrust of big business continues then it could be a way that is affordable of striking back.
if that makes any sense..
- kpl0
ok vain, you're clowning yourself. listen to the goddam album first before you get on your rhetorical high-horse.
also, if you're saying blending jay-z and the beatles together is cake, then you're saying these are two similar and harmonious records that fit together nicely like jigsaw piece. And if you believe that, you're quite deaf. DM put the white album into a shredder to make the album, and it takes a bit of creativity to reassemble the pieces.
- kpl0
and you know what else proves creativity is required? 1/2 of the album sucks. it's clear the album is a bit of a rush job. If that means DM is an idiot, then go grab a copy of pro tools and prove how stupid he is.
