To make the scrollbar go away, you don't really need to use CSS. you just simply add scrolling=no in the body tag.
I hope this answered your question, vsc.

the overflow selector may be able to do this, depending on how you want to use it.
overflow: visible;
overflow: hidden;
overflow: auto;
overflow: scroll;

i tried that of course but the scroll bar is still there (!)

I also would have guessed trying to setting the overflow on the body, but since that's not working, I'm at a loss.
Obviously you go do the whole frames thing, but that kinda would be a pain, and I'm not even totally sure it would work.
The other thing would be to just launch the site in a new window and use Javascript to control it.

the obvious question is, why remove access to a usable feature of the system?
scrollbars are os/system/browser elements. they exist for a reason.
if the site needs to scroll, a scrollbar appears, if it doesn't need to scroll it doesn't show up.
is there a link to see what your problem is?

no link... just wondering if you could disable the scrollbar on start up (without iframes). not to alter OS defaults but was testing layouts with no blank scrollbars. just left to right fullscr.
