Genius tactic.

I think there should be scholarships for children of single parent homes...
but noooooooooooo! That would make too much sense.

bout damn time,
because since i'm white, middle class, etc, etc, etc, the goverment see's it fit not to give me any money for college, thus this huge amount of debt i carry around.
Thank You, Minority Groups, Activist, & Equal Rights. Because of you I can barely make it.

i've heard of college student organizations like that doing anti-affirmative action bake sales. you pay according to race and sex. it was free cupcakes for hispanic girls. male jews had to pay something rediculous.
but this is new.

I never got a dime for school, and why? because I am a middle class whitey with average skills and an average life. You gotta be really down, another race or really superior to get any kind of scholarship or reward in this world. Theres nothing for just average joes here.
- dessalles0
uh...
should there be?
- iSolve0
uhh yes
- dessalles0
really?
i was under the impression that the function of a scholarship was to encorage exceptional students to go to school and to give them financial aid in doing so.
so the two candidates for a scholarship in my mind are:
a) really really strong students
b) good students with a poor economic background.but that's just me.
wait...are you being sarcastic
this happened to me last time
- iSolve0
yes.
i agree with you somewhat.
exceptional students seems to be a bit of a gray area.
most exceptional students are already receiving scholarships because of their grades, not race.
correct?
- tfs__mag0
there are a lot of exceptional white students that never get a dime for school. I think this has a right to exist, just as much as I think black or hispanic college funds have a right to exist. If you get rid of one, you should get rid of all.
- dessalles0
yeah that's fine.
but what i was responding to (disagreeing with), was the comment on "a middle class whitey with average skills"
poor average white kids should be eligible. as should very smart middle class white kids. but middle class average (skilled) white kids.
- tfs__mag0
i'd agree with that dessalles
- iSolve0
none of this should be based on race.
that is all.
- dessalles0
no, it shouldn't be based on race
it should be based on need
but to play the devil's advocate, i guess - when you've got a couple thousand applicants, all equally qualified, the easiest way to determine who is from the poorer background is by race. its no secret.
race is just the most/only practical way of choosing who should revceive the scholarship. they can't go house to house and see who's "worse" off - that's disgusting in its own right. otherwise, how are you going to determine who "needs" it more?
that's all i've got
back to work
- Nashville90
What I meant was if I was really poor but still average I could get money. If I was really exceptional I could get money too. If I was of another race and average I could get money. It's just a word problem. There should be no scholarships based on race, only on academics and need.
Then no I wouldn't qualify, but at least then it would be fair.

"but to play the devil's advocate, i guess - when you've got a couple thousand applicants, all equally qualified, the easiest way to determine who is from the poorer background is by race. its no secret. "
deary me, is it really THAT fucked over there.

Few people have reverence towards this country, most see it as a system to be taken advantage of.
- rasko40
Women: they're ok really, some of them anyway.
- lowimpakt0
is there a grant system available? Who are the main scholarship providing bodies?
