Can you really feel the difference in speed between a cpu with 2 Ghz or 3 Ghz..?
I'm about to build me a pc and I'm not sure about saving some money in cpu speed and investing in rams.

in reality, your processor is only as powerful as your Frontside Bus, which is the data path and physical interface between the processor and the RAM.
look for the biggest FSB numbers when buying your motherboard....it will make much more difference than a 1ghz difference between processors.

it's funny cause i 've got both : 2.2 P4 and 3.0 P4 C,
the main difference from what i can tell is from :
the ram (PC 3500 corsair)
the video card
the bus and the motherboard
the SATA drive is also nice to get that extra speed when transferring big files..
no n, i don't think the difference is that big.. it's the whole thing that makes one setup faster than another.. not just the proc
my 2. ghz machine runs fine, stills hadle big photoshop files , the multi task is weaker and the bus is slower .. but apart from that it's almost the same

boringly enough, I have been reading about 'over-clocking' - quite interesting never the less.
