Thinking MediaTemple for a client.
Should I be scared of it?
Should I be scared if I don't use them? Will they blow my house up? Will they eat my kids?
Any wisdom is appreciated.

No free hosting, just really good support and up time. Never had a problem with them, and if I did I am sure they would be there to support me better than my jock strap.

Only issue was that they stop hosting new shared coldfusion sites, they only maintain current customers. However I inquired about it and they gave me some info. Otherwise MT has been very solid, all the way down to the head honchos calling to make sure you are satisified.
I should work for them by the way that I talk. Telelmarketer.. something...

they Do Not host Cf customers anymore.. only ones that were already current customers when they decided to end the initiative

Mediatemple has "pristine" uptime and security. With security comes sacrifice though... as you must give up some cms systems that require qualified paths that mediatemple cannot support due to virtual hosting. ie: oscommerce. I have also had problems in trying to talk to representatives about getting setup with Miva. Numerous times I have been given the "run-around"

I understand people that get free hosting from them, talk nice about them, and that is in fact the Idea..
Im more happy with my hosting company, and its not MT.
There is a TON great options for hosting..
If you dont think they will do the job, you go with someone else.

http://www.tera-byte offers more space, more bandwidth, great support, and is cheaper.
Media Temple has given me reason enough to try them out. Other than that cute logo I could put on my website.
