If you can wait a month, I would. According to all the rumor sites, resellers are running dry and not being resupplied, so there might be a bump up feature wise of the news ones that would reduce the price even more.

there'll always be a new machine from apple... wait wait wait.
get it if you need it to do work, which by the sounds of it, you do, so it's good that you got it.you'll probably really like it too... honestly, i liked working on the apple that i had a lot.. i felt like it catered to my work in a way better than my pc, but hey, i work in flash 85% of my day and it wasn't cutting it for that kind of work. so, back to pc for me.
good luck and enjoy your new machine:-)

A couple things:
Flash will run ok.
there are some things in it that aren't that responsive - but it's not too bad.
(I've got a dual 867 G4 tower and it's fine for me)You definitely want to get more RAM.
OS X loooooooves RAM.
buy another 512MB from Crucial.com - DO NOT GO WITH CHEAP RAM
Macs are picky about RAM - if you get a lower quality stick it could potentially cause you all sorts of problems. Also be warned that the SuperDrive is slower than hell.
It burns DVDs relatively fast - but burning CDs, reading CDs and reading DVDs is noticably slower than on the standard combo DVD/CDr drive.Personally, I don't burn DVDs and I don't plan to so I will always go with the combo drive and use the extra money to get an external harddrive for a backup.
Speedwise - you'll be fine unless you're really super picky.
(I am. I want a G5 like you wouldn't believe. But then again, I've had mine for 2 years, so)

with the current processors a g5 laptop just wouldn't work. my friends dual G5 crashes after you've using it for a couple hours because of the heat.

My dual g5 has never shut down because of heat, I work on it about 10 hours a day straight. My PB does all the time, it's always overheating.

i wasn't aware of any problems with flash on a mac, i've been using mine for a year now. so far it's been great.

if you have ever done Flash on a PC , you would notice the diff..
if you havnt.. dont bother.. you will just get frustrated knowing how much slower it works on a Mac..
but what i hear is Panther and MX makes it much more bearable
